Charles-Émile Reynaud (1892)
Pauvre Pierrot is a French short animated film directed by Charles-Émile Reynaud on October 28th, 1892 and was one of the first animated films ever made. It consists of 500 individually painted images and lasts about 15 minutes originally.
It was the first film to demonstrate the Theatre Optique system developed by Reynaud in 1888, which was a very early animated movie picture system.
Sweet.
When you say film, it was made to be projected? It’s fascinating that it’s in colour for such an early film.
Thanks.
